Why Travel? How important is the freedom to travel and should it be curtailed in the light of glo

Kris was co-editor of a pathbreaking book “Why Travel: Understanding our need to move and how it shapes our lives” involving 15 chapters written by leading scientists, historians and social scientists all addressing this theme from the perspective of their own disciplines.


The book has attracted a lot of media interest in the light of current moves to reduce travel and research stemming from these debates is ongoing including four Delphi groups looking at the issue in the context of health, sustainability, cohesion and transport modelling.
